City to Hold Workshop Jan. 21 to Discuss Parking Changes

SAN CLEMENTE — The city’s Planning Commission will hold a special public workshop Jan. 21 to discuss changing the city’s parking regulations.
Commission Chairman John T. Tengdin said the workshop will give residents the opportunity to address parking problems caused by narrow streets and apartment buildings.
“We hope to get input from residents and see if a revision in the parking requirements is in order,” Tengdin said, adding that changes to the parking code would apply to future developments and would not affect existing ones.
The public workshop is the first step in an effort to change parking requirements. The next would be for the city staff to draft a revised ordinance and place it before the City Council for approval, Tengdin said.
The public hearing will be at 6 p.m. in council chambers.
