El Toro, the two-time defending Division 4-A girls’ soccer champion, is seeded second in the pairings announced Monday by the Southern Section.
The Chargers (21-2-2), who were ranked first in the division for most of the season, won a coin flip with Mission Viejo to enter the playoffs as the No. 1 representative from the South Coast League, from which the past six 4-A champions have come.
Simi Valley (22-1), which lost to El Toro in the title match last season, is the No. 1-seeded team. Third-seeded Edison (16-4-6) will play the winner of Los Alamitos (13-4-2) and Dana Hills (15-8-3), which meet in a wild-card match Wednesday at Los Alamitos.
Other 4-A wild-card matches involving Orange County teams on Wednesday: Woodbridge at Glendora St. Lucy’s, Santa Margarita at Marina, Chino Don Lugo at Mater Dei and Loara at Newport Harbor.
