COLLEGE ROUNDUP : USC Uses Long Ball to Beat Titans, 10-6

Unranked USC defeated sixth-ranked Cal State Fullerton, 10-6, in a nonconference baseball game Tuesday at Amerige Park in Fullerton.
The loss ended Fullerton’s seven-game winning streak.
USC got home runs from Greg Tippen, Casey Burrill and Bobby Hughes. Hughes’ home run, his sixth, was a three-run shot in the fourth to give the Trojans (11-11) a 9-2 lead.
D.C. Olsen had three hits and a run batted in for Fullerton (14-5).
In another nonconference game:
Chapman 4, Cal State Dominguez Hills 3--Cliff Anderson had a two-run single to tie it, 3-3, and Tom Puppe singled home Anderson to give Chapman a 4-3 lead at Hart Park in Orange.
Richard Smith (3-1) worked the final two innings for the victory. Kevin Cook had two hits for Chapman (14-7).
San Diego State 14, UC Irvine 3--Matt Filson hit a home run in the second consecutive game for visiting Irvine.
