L. Porter Hendricks; Insurance Executive

L. Porter Hendricks, an insurance executive who was 1934 student body president at UCLA, has died at age 79.
Hendricks began his career in the life insurance department of Leland P. Reeder Co. in Beverly Hills.
During World War II he served as head of the military pre-induction training branch for the western states.
Hendricks, who died Wednesday, is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marie, three daughters, seven grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at All Saints Episcopal Church, Camden Drive at Santa Monica Avenue in Beverly Hills.
The family has asked that any memorial contributions be made to the UCLA Athletic Fund, 405 Hilgard Ave., Los Angeles, Calif. 90024.
