Silver Leaves Columbia: Paula Silver, who as marketing president at Columbia Pictures clashed with some of Hollywood’s leading directors, will resign her post this week. “She was forced out,” said one industry source. “The main reason she’s out is because of the tempestuous dealings she had with filmmakers such as Barbra Streisand (“The Prince of Tides”), John Singleton (“Boyz N the Hood”) and Barbet Schroeder (“Reversal of Fortune”).” Silver also was recently criticized for Columbia’s marketing of the film “Gladiator,” which bombed at the box office.
