Wendy’s International Inc. cited increased sales per store for a 30% increase in its profit during the first three months of the year as sales rose 13.2%, the Dublin, Ohio-based fast-food chain announced.
Net income for the first quarter ended March 31 was $7.7 million, or 8 cents per share, compared to $5.9 million, or 6 cents per share, for the same period a year earlier, the company said. Revenue for the period increased to $279 million from $246 million in the first quarter last year.
Average net sales per domestic company restaurant rose 5% over last year’s first quarter to $216,400, making it the 13th consecutive quarter of year-to-year sales gains.
