An injured Border Patrol agent was airlifted to a hospital Wednesday when the car he was driving was hit by a Border Patrol truck while the vehicles chased suspected illegal immigrants on California 79 north of Warner Springs.
“He suffered a possible hip fracture and several lacerations,” said Steve Kean, spokesman for the Border Patrol.
The accident occurred about 9 a.m. when Border Patrol agents traveling in a sedan and a Ford Bronco spotted a car with several occupants suspected of being illegal immigrants driving in the opposite direction, Kean said.
“The lead vehicle made a sudden U-turn and the Bronco traveling behind it collided into it,” Kean said. There were no other injuries and no arrests made.
