To Solve the Problems That Fueled Riots, a Bit of Magic Would Help
- Share via
This letter is in response to the viewpoint of A.S. Doc Young of Los Angeles (May 23), who points out that black people have always owned businesses and that some of these business were burned down during the riots. His point was “not that black people don’t own any businesses, but that black people don’t swim strongly enough in the mainstreams of business and industry.”
Thank you very much, Mr. Young, for choosing your words so very carefully, but unfortunately the content of that statement reflects a racist attitude that is the root cause of many of the problems in this country.
I believe that until the peoples of this country recognize and subscribe to the belief that all peoples are of the same race, the human race, then we will suffer racial problems for a long time.
