SAN DIEGO : Driver Surrenders in Bicyclist’s Death
- Share via
A 24-year-old San Diego man was arrested Monday in connection with a hit-and-run accident that killed a bicyclist last month, San Diego police said.
Anthony Fusco was accompanied by his attorney when he turned himself in at the County Courthouse, three days after a warrant was issued for his arrest, police said.
Fusco, an automobile detailer, was held at County Jail on felony hit-and-run and manslaughter charges.
Police said Carolyn McGregor, 34, of San Diego died May 23 at Scripps Memorial Hospital-La Jolla after she was struck by a pickup that ran a red light at Beryl Street and Soledad Mountain Road.
The driver stopped momentarily but then left.
The truck was recovered within a week. Police said Monday that the truck’s registered owner had loaned it to a prospective buyer to test-drive it.
That person then apparently let a friend, identified as Fusco, drive the truck, police said.
