A London anti-apartheid demonstration marred the return of South African runner Zola Pieterse before Britain’s Colin Jackson ran the fastest 110-meter hurdles in the world this year at the TSB Grand Prix meet. Jackson’s time of 13.06 seconds in the high hurdles was the fifth-fastest ever and was a European, Commonwealth and British all-comers’ record.

The meet was briefly interrupted when three men and three women ran onto the track during a 2,000-meter race featuring Pieterse against Britain’s 3,000-meter Olympic hopeful Yvonne Murray.
