Finander’s Qualities as Senate Candidate
What chutzpah (unmitigated nerve) was displayed by Bob Beverly’s chief of staff (Times, Sept. 20) who said of our Democratic candidate for State Senate (27th District): “Who is Brian Finander? He has never held elective office, he has no voting record and is completely unknown.”
Those of us in the 27th District (and in some neighboring ones) who work with Brian Finander know him very well. He is a community activist, part-time university professor and a businessman who is determined to revive our local economy through a “peace dividend” which would retool manufacturing plants for environmental advantage and domestic use. He would increase funding for schools, and among other attributes is a lifetime pro-choice candidate who would bring a fresh approach to resolve the multitude of unresolved problems which have arisen during Beverly’s 16 years in office.
