H-P Expects to Trim 2,700 Jobs: Hewlett-Packard Co. said it expects 2,700 employees to resign by early 1993 through a program to help the computer and instrument maker rein in expenses. H-P said it would take a charge of about 40 cents a share in the quarter ending Oct. 31 to cover the cost of the program. With about 252 million shares outstanding, that would translate to a charge of about $101 million. The voluntary program follows similar offers last year that were accepted by 3,300 H-P employees.
