Robert Harris Jr. Pleads Guilty in Robbery

Robert Alton Harris Jr., the son of the man executed in April at the San Quentin gas chamber, pleaded guilty Thursday in Reno, Nev., to armed robbery and the use of a handgun.
Harris will be sentenced Nov. 20 and receive a prison term of 2 to 30 years, Washoe County Deputy Dist. Atty. Thomas E. Viloria said.
Harris’ plea came on charges of robbing a cabdriver at gunpoint July 7, a few days after his release from a state-run youth camp after running away from his mother and stepfather.
The 17-year-old remains free on $25,000 bail pending the sentence. His father was the first person executed in California in a quarter-century.
