Time Sues Over Bush-Quayle Ad: Time magazine has filed suit against the Bush-Quayle ’92 campaign for copyright and trademark infringement. In a controversial TV spot, the campaign has used a Time magazine cover photo of Bill Clinton from April 20, with the headline: “Why Voters Don’t Trust Clinton.” The magazine is charging that the campaign isn’t authorized to use that cover and that its use implies that Time endorses a candidate. “This is a serious distortion of our journalism,” said Henry Muller, managing editor of Time. He pointed out that Time has also run critical cover stories of George Bush and Ross Perot. A lawyer for the Bush-Quayle campaign said the ad will not be pulled.
