BUENA PARK — Buena Park notched its first victory of the season with a 32-20 victory over Freeway League rival Troy Friday night at Buena Park High.
In the first quarter, running back George McDonald fumbled, and Troy’s James Hartford later ran it in from the 25.
Buena Park answered on its first play after the kickoff, as Alan Buckley hit Chris Stone with a 73-yard touchdown pass. And when Troy’s Chris Blume fumbled the ensuing kickoff, Buckley capitalized with a nine-yard touchdown pass to Mario Lobito.
Troy (3-4, 1-1 in league) scored on its next possession, going 44 yards in 10 plays with Hartford scoring from the seven, for a 13-12 lead at the half.
But Buena Park (1-6, 1-1) scored twice in the third quarter on a five-yard run by Alex Gollette and a seven-yard run by McDonald after Buena Park recovered another Troy fumble.
McDonald’s 60-yard run with just under seven minutes left clinched the victory for the Coyotes.
