ANTELOPE VALLEY COLLEGE : Training Band to Offer Concert
- Share via
Test Flight, the training band for Antelope Valley College’s commercial music program, will spotlight its backup musicians during performances Friday and Saturday in the college music building.
Glen Horspool, program director, said that people do not always appreciate the special skills needed to be, for example, an effective backup singer.
“You’ve got to have a musical ear,” Test Flight vocalist Bonnilee Mathews said. “More than half the project is being able to pick up the harmony.”
The training band program prepares its students for careers in the pop music field. Membership in the band is an opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience and to try out their ideas in a concert setting, Horspool said.
Concert tickets are $6 for general admission and $5 for students and seniors.
