Lotto Winner Was Unaware of Riches

SACRAMENTO — An employee of the state Senate Budget Committee carried a Super Lotto ticket worth $16.5 million in his wallet for nearly a week before discovering he was the jackpot winner.
Andrew Schaefer said he realized he had won the top prize in the Oct. 31 drawing early Friday morning, after his wife heard a television news story that a ticket sold at a market near their home still had not been claimed.
