One-Day Strike Called at Boeing: Boeing Co.’s second-largest union has decided to go ahead with a one-day strike today to protest what it says is the company’s refusal to negotiate a contract. The Seattle Professional Engineering Employees Assn. represents about 55% of Boeing’s 28,000 engineers and technicians, who have been working since Dec. 1 without a contract. The union says its members should get the same terms as those Boeing gave to its machinists earlier last year.
