A 37-year-old motorist died after he was ejected from his Jeep on the Golden State Freeway in Burbank, authorities said Sunday.
The name of the man, a resident of San Dimas, was not released because his relatives had not been notified, California Highway Patrol Officer Susan Billat said.
He was driving south on the freeway south of San Fernando Road about 6:15 p.m. Saturday when he saw that traffic had stopped in front of him, Billat said. The man swerved to the shoulder, lost control of his vehicle and then traveled back across the southbound lanes.
The Jeep rolled over once, ejecting its driver and hitting a Mazda. The Mazda’s driver and a passenger in the Mazda received minor injuries but declined medical treatment, Billat said.
The driver of the Jeep was taken to Thompson Memorial Medical Center, where he died at 7:19 p.m., Billat said.
