COLLEGE BASKETBALL PACIFIC 10 ROUNDUP : Arizona Outlasts Washington State

Chris Mills had 19 points and 11 rebounds, and Damon Stoudamire led a second-half surge that carried fifth-ranked Arizona past Washington State, 70-64, Thursday night at Pullman, Wash.

Arizona (16-2 overall, 10-0 in the Pac-10) trailed by eight points in the first half, but Stoudamire scored just before halftime to tie the score, 28-28.

Stoudamire scored 13 of his 17 points as the teams traded the lead throughout the second half.

The game was tied, 57-57, with 5:37 remaining, but Arizona went on a 13-4 streak before the Cougars’ Bennie Hill hit a three-pointer at the buzzer.

Benny Seltzer scored 23 points and Tony Harris added 15 points and nine rebounds for Washington State (12-7, 6-4), which had a six-game conference winning streak ended.

Arizona State 79, Washington 74--Conference scoring leader Stevin Smith scored 11 of his 15 points in the second half and the Sun Devils held off the Huskies at Seattle.

Rich Manning kept Washington (11-8, 5-5) close with 34 points and 18 rebounds, but the other starters combined for only 26 points.

Freshman Ron Riley scored 20 points for the Sun Devils (13-4, 7-3), who beat the Huskies for the ninth consecutive time.
