SOUTH COAST LEAGUE BOYS’ BASKETBALL : Bayer’s Free Throws Let Mission Viejo Win

Dave Bayer made four free throws in the final minute to give Mission Viejo a 48-46 victory over El Toro in a South Coast League boys’ basketball game Friday.
Bayer made two free throws with about a minute left to tie the score, 46-46, and made two more with 46 seconds left to give Mission Viejo (12-14, 5-5) the victory, forcing a playoff with Dana Hills for the league’s final playoff spot.
Mission Viejo and Dana Hills will play at 7:30 tonight at San Clemente High.
In other league games:
Capistrano Valley 68, Dana Hills 50--Corey Kost had 18 points for host Capistrano Valley (17-9, 8-2). Justin Hiney had 11 points for the Dolphins (12-12, 5-5).
Mater Dei 84, San Clemente 61--Miles Simon had 16 points to lead Mater Dei (26-1, 10-0). Luke Mannix had 24 points for San Clemente (5-18, 1-9).
