KUWAIT CITY — Kuwaitis honked car horns, beat drums and draped skyscrapers in giant neon flags Friday to celebrate the second anniversary of their Persian Gulf War liberation.
“We are so happy. The people’s spirits are high,” said Nadia Karam, giving passersby flags to mark the 1991 rout of Iraqi occupation troops by a U.S.-led alliance.
The square and central streets were jammed overnight with revelers spraying each other with canned foam colored in the black, white, green and red of the national flag.
