ROBIN’S NEST

Most of today’s comedians lack the depth and social conscience to own the spotlight for their full “15 minutes of fame” (“Rockin’ Robin,” by Richard Natale, Jan. 31). Angry or crude or both, these cookie-cutter fulminators all rail against the same safe, mundane targets, offering no real substance and no insights.
Fortunately for us, a few humanist-humorists like Robin Williams have that rare incandescent vision to hold back the shadows during these constantly sputtering short circuits.
