After squandering a 19-point lead, Georgetown got 21 second-half points from Othella Harrington Thursday night to defeat Arizona State, 78-68, at Tempe, Ariz.
Georgetown (17-12), led by 19 in the first half, but gave up the lead when the Sun Devils (18-10) went on a 29-5 run to pull ahead in the second half. Georgetown, led by Harrington’s 25 points and 18 rebounds, pulled away when Arizona State scored only one basket in the final 6 1/2 minutes of the game.

Providence (18-11) held James Madison (21-9) to 39.6% shooting on its way to a 73-61 victory at Providence, R.I. During the season, the Dukes led the nation with a 52.3% shooting average. . . . Clemson (17-12) took a 22-point lead in the first half then held off Auburn (15-12) at Clemson, S.C., to win, 84-72. . . . . . . Stanley Jackson stole an inbounds pass, was fouled and made two free throws with nine seconds left to help Alabama Birmingham (18-13) beat Alabama (16-13), 58-56 at Tuscaloosa, Ala. . . . Southwest Missouri State (18-10) held St. Joseph’s (18-11) to 15 points in the second half to win, 56-34, at Springfield, Mo. . . . Keith Jackson scored 26 points, including five three-pointers, to lead Old Dominion (21-7) past Virginia Commonwealth (20-10), 74-68, at Norfolk, Va. Odell Hoge added 16 points and 10 rebounds for Old Dominion. . . . Gerrid Abram scored 22 points and Howard Eisley added 21 to lead Boston College (17-12) over Niagara (23-7), 87-83, at Niagara Falls, N.Y.
