Times Mirror Cable Invests in Electronic Program Guide: Times Mirror Cable TV Inc. has acquired a major equity stake in Fremont, Calif.-based InSight Telecast, a patented on-screen electronic programming guide and VCR programming service. Other strategic partners in the service include Viacom International, KBLCOM, Tribune Co., Spelling Entertainment, Sumitomo and the Public Broadcasting Service. Larry Wangberg, president of Times Mirror Cable TV, will join the InSight board. Times Mirror Cable is a unit of Los Angeles-based Times Mirror Co., which publishes the Los Angeles Times.
