CRENSHAW : YWCA Swim Team Holds Tryouts

The Angeles Mesa YWCA, 2501 W. Vernon Ave., is seeking 4- to 17-year-olds for its Stingrays swim team.

Swimmers interested in competition can try out any weeknight at 5. Participants will be tested for “water competency” and will be required to swim the length of the 25-yard pool. Team members will be taught a variety of techniques and strokes.

Fees for the swim team are $40 a month, which go toward coach and instructor salaries, entry fees and pool maintenance. Scholarships are available for some children.
