Water District Officials and Their Perks

The article on the water district officials’ disregard of fiscal ethics and arrogant attitude (toward) public office abuse reminds me of the old saw: “Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.”
What we water users who finance the officials and their offices should do is demand they undergo an audit for the last few years and pay back a few thousand dollars each month from their inflated salaries until the ledgers are balanced.
By the way, who do these guys report to? Their autonomy contributes to this problem. It must be corrected.
