School Board Shows Poor Management
* The decision by the Los Angeles Board of Education to allow school complexes to decide on the school calendar they wish to follow is a logistical nightmare and once again shows that the majority of board members cannot responsibly manage the Los Angeles Unified School District.
The thoughts of the board are that the majority of schools, especially those in the Valley, will vote to return to the traditional calendar, and hopefully they will.
However, much of the $4.2-million savings that would have been realized if all schools were returned to a traditional calendar will now be spent on such items as configuring the school complexes, mailing ballots and figuring out new bus routes.
Is it any wonder that there is such strong support to break up the district?
