Jorge Andrade threw a one-hitter and Bell Gardens scored the winning run on a ground ball with the bases loaded as the Lancers beat Newbury Park, 1-0, Friday in a Southern Section Division I first-round game at Newbury Park.

Simi Valley 9, Loyola 0--Simi Valley banged out 12 hits, including two home runs, to beat Loyola in a Southern Section Division I first-round game.

South Gate 7, Huntington Park 2--Luis Marquez’s bases-loaded walk scored Smiley Lopez and sparked a five-run tenth inning.

Roosevelt 4, Bell 1--Ramon Ruiz hit a two-run triple in the fifth as Roosevelt won a Southeastern Conference game.

Jefferson 8, Garfield 3--Jefferson was awarded a playoff berth after a forfeit win over Locke, but the Democrats ensured their position with a Southeastern Conference win at Ross Records: Garfield 6-14, 4-12; Jefferson 11-10, 8-8.
Fremont 5, Locke 4--Gus Preciado and Jose Camacho each had two hits and an RBI as Fremont won at home.

Crenshaw 13, Dorsey 2--Michael McNeely pitched a four-hitter and hit a three-run home run as Crenshaw kept Dorsey winless.

Hollywood 8, Belmont 0--Marvin Cobos and Carlos Garcia combined to pitch a three-hitter and strike out 16 to lead the Sheiks in a Northern Conference game.
