CAMARILLO : Political Club Seeks Funds for Needy Youth
- Share via
The newly formed Democratic Club of Camarillo will hold its first fund-raiser Saturday, but it’s not to raise money for a political candidate.
Instead, the buffet brunch at the Alamo Restaurant in Camarillo will raise money to send poor children to summer camp.
“We’re not just concerned about political events,” board member Debbie Creadick said. “Our club is concerned about our community.”
The club, which has attracted 100 members since it formed in January, hopes to send two needy children to one week of the local YMCA’s overnight camp, which costs more than $200 per child, Creadick said.
Toward this goal, the club will charge $10 per person for the buffet, which will begin at 11 a.m. at 1312 Del Norte Road. For tickets, call 482-5642.
