Arcadia : Schools Get $100,000 Grant
The Arcadia Auditorium Foundation has made a $100,000 restricted grant to the Arcadia Unified School District for music and auditorium-related activities.
The terms require that the school district set up a trust fund with the $100,000. The district can then tap the interest generated by this money.
The grant comes from contributions collected in Arcadia since 1977 to pay for construction of a civic auditorium in the community. Funds were raised through cash contributions, “jog-a-thons,” parties and school musical productions.
But dreams of a civic auditorium were never realized, and last month, the Foundation voted to give the money to the school district.
The grant carries the stipulation that the $100,000 held in trust can be applied toward building the auditorium should it ever become possible.
The foundation has made $62,500 in donations to the school district in previous years.
