*Film: Paul Verhoeven is back at the helm of Columbia Pictures’ “Mistress of the Seas.” The “Basic Instinct” director dropped out of the ambitious project last week in a dispute over the budget, which reportedly is more than $50 million. Producer Jon Peters, however, convinced Verhoeven to return, according to Columbia executives. “Mistress of the Seas” is expected to go into production by early next year, with Geena Davis and a top male star.
