MALIBU : 3.5 Offshore Quake Shakes Coastal Area
- Share via
A magnitude 3.5 earthquake, centered offshore, four miles southwest of Malibu, shook a coastal area at 2:29 p.m. Monday, Caltech seismologists said. There were no reports of damage or injury.

In May, a scientist from the U.S. Geological Survey described the Los Angeles Basin as in a seismically “quiet period” similar to one about 10 years ago.
