Coach: Lance Stewart (second year).
1992: 34-0, 14-0 in Sea View League; defending State Division I champion; defending Division I Southern Section champion; defending league champion; finished season top-ranked in USA Today national poll; won Divers Sports Center Challenge (a national tournament in Chicago); won Orange County Championships.
Key returners: Kristen Campbell, Sr., 6-0, setter; Kimberly Coleman, Sr., 6-0, setter; Caitlin Pickart, Sr., 5-11, middle blocker; Jennifer Stroffe, Sr., 6-0, outside hitter.
Key newcomers: Ali Havriluk, Jr., 5-7, outside hitter; Wrenna Johnson, Jr., 5-10, middle blocker; Katherine Rice, So., 5-10, outside hitter.
Outlook: The only thing the Sea Kings didn’t win last season was the lottery. This year, with four starters back, including Southern Section co-MVP Coleman and first-team section pick Stroffe, they might even win that. “Us and Newport (Harbor) are the top two (teams) in the state, let alone the Sea View League, let alone the Southern Section, let alone Southern California, let alone the nation,” Stewart said.
