Los Angeles County sheriff’s detectives arrested two Long Beach teen-agers in the wounding Monday of a 17-year-old boy in a drive-by shooting near Carson High School.
The victim, who was not identified, was walking on 223rd Street near Dolores Street when a boy in a passing car fired one bullet and struck him in the chest, said Sheriff’s Sgt. Robert Stoneman. The victim staggered to the high school campus, where school police called paramedics about 2 p.m., he said.
The teen-ager, who was not a student at the school, was in critical condition at a hospital.
About two hours later, detectives arrested a 16-year-old boy, believed to have fired the shot, and a 15-year-old girl who is believed to have driven the car. The two were booked on attempted murder charges.
