Cross-country
Garritson, who was ineligible last season after transferring from Sunny Hills, returned to varsity competition without missing a step. Well, maybe a couple. Although she took a wrong turn in the third mile of the Division II junior/senior race at the Laguna Hills Invitational and had to backtrack about 20 yards, she still won by nearly a minute. Garritson, who competed on the junior varsity last season and won the Freeway League JV title, finished the three-mile race in 17 minutes 49 seconds. Garritson set the sophomore meet record of 16:53 in 1991.
Other notables * Dresden Howell, Corona del Mar, won the Division III race at the Laguna Hills Invitational in 18:56 to help the Sea Kings to the team title.
