BASEBALL / DAILY REPORT : ANGELS : Decisions Due Soon on Herzog, O’Brien

Jackie Autry, Angel owner, will meet privately next week with Whitey Herzog, vice president in charge of player personnel, to determine his fate in the organization. Sources say she would like to keep Herzog and Dan O’Brien, vice president in charge of baseball operations, in their current roles but that may not be feasible because of their overlapping responsibilities, which have caused conflicts.

If the Angels choose not to exercise the option year on Herzog’s contract, or retain O’Brien, club officials confirmed that farm director Bill Bavasi will be the replacement.
