COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Two Late Goals Foil Titan Soccer Team

Cal State Fullerton squandered a two-goal lead in the second half and lost to Loyola Marymount, 4-3, in a nonconference men’s soccer game Friday at Fullerton.
It was the second consecutive loss and the third in the last four games for Fullerton (7-3), which started the week ranked eighth in the country.
Sean Byrne scored with 12 minutes left and Derek Williams scored with three minutes left to give Loyola Marymount (3-7) the victory.
Eddie Soto, Todd Patrick, and Mark Vaught scored for Fullerton, which plays at San Diego State at 2 p.m. Sunday.
In another nonconference men’s soccer game:
Stanford 4, UC Irvine 1--Jason Smith scored off a corner kick for UC Irvine (4-6).
In Big West Conference women’s volleyball:
UC Irvine 3, New Mexico State 1--Junior Stacy Mitchell had 17 kills to lead UC Irvine over New Mexico State, 15-7, 15-7, 12-15, 15-7. Popi Edwards added 11 kills for the Anteaters, while senior Alison Bantel and freshman Jennifer Dunn had 10 each. UCI is 8-6 and 4-3 in the Big West.
Utah State 3, Cal State Fullerton 0--The winless Titans were overwhelmed by Utah State, which won, 15-11, 15-2, 15-4. Marie Motil had 12 kills for visiting Utah State (4-14, 2-5). Jennifer Lipski had 11 kills for Fullerton (0-14, 0-6).
