Phoenix Voters OK Tax Hike

PHOENIX — Voters have approved raising their taxes to increase the number of police officers and firefighters, but they rejected a limit on campaign funds for mayoral and City Council candidates.
Proposition 101 would have limited mayoral candidates to raising $75,000, while council candidates would have been allowed to raise $25,000. The city would match both amounts. Voters rejected the proposal in unofficial returns Tuesday.
