2 Killed in Weekend Auto Accident

ORANGE — Two people are dead after a weekend auto accident in Irvine.
Irvine police said Steve Evans, 29, of Arizona, died instantly when the car he was driving crashed into a utility pole about 1:30 a.m. Saturday. Christine O’Reilly, 25, of New Jersey, his passenger, died Sunday afternoon at UCI Medical Center.
Police said the couple’s car was westbound on Newport Coast Road when the accident occurred and that the crash was “possibly related to speed.” No other vehicles were involved in the accident. An investigation is pending.
Both victims were wearing seat belts, and the car was equipped with a driver’s side air bag.
