INDIANAPOLIS — Several motorists apparently mistook a hit-and-run victim for a prankster or a Halloween dummy, driving over or around the dying man as he lay in the street, police said.
John Farone, 29, of Ocala, Fla., died at a hospital Tuesday.
Farone was hit by a car that kept on going, sheriff’s deputies said. Pedestrians watched helplessly as several more cars ran over or around Farone before they could get to him.
Witnesses told officers that the other motorists might have thought the body was a Halloween dummy or part of a prank.
