Pipe Bomb Found in Parking Lot

The bomb squad for the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department removed a pipe bomb from a Simi Valley apartment parking lot Monday evening, said Lt. Don Austin of the Simi Valley Police Department.
A tenant discovered the homemade bomb about 4:45 p.m. in the bushes next to a parking space at the Colony Apartments, 1764 1st St., Austin said. Simi Valley police arrived on the scene soon after it was discovered and called in the sheriff’s bomb squad, he said.
The squad removed the device about 8 p.m. without incident.
