Horror Movies for Halloween at Orpheum

The American Cinematheque celebrates Halloween with “All-Day Nightmare at the Horror-Pheum” at the Orpheum Theater, 842 S. Broadway, starting Oct. 30 at 11 a.m.
There will be an eight-feature marathon composed of William Cameron Menzies’ 1953 “Invaders From Mars” (11 a.m.), James Whales’ 1935 “Bride of Frankenstein” (12:40 p.m.), the U.S. premiere of the Australian version of George Miller’s 1979 “Mad Max” (at 2:35 p.m.), William Castle’s rarely seen 1974 “Shanks,” starring Marcel Marceau (at 4:15 p.m.), the 1920 silent version of John Barrymore’s “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” with organ accompaniment by Gaylord Carter (at 7 p.m.), James Whales’ 1932 “The Old Dark House” (at 8:30 p.m.), a new Cinemascope print of the 1956 “Forbidden Planet” and Ed Wood’s 1953 cult film “Glen or Glenda?” (at midnight).
