COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Works Powers Cypress Past San Diego Mesa

Sara Works scored 20 points had 14 rebounds as Cypress (8-1) defeated San Diego Mesa, 75-47, Friday in a semifinal game in the Cypress women’s basketball tournament at Cypress College. Tamika Harold added 13 points and 12 rebounds for Cypress, which will play Ventura for the championship at 4 p.m. today.

In men’s nonconference basketball:

Cerritos 98, Irvine Valley 77--Javon Rouzan scored 30 points and had 13 rebounds to lead Cerritos. Tori Clemente scored 23 points and Rashad Wilson added 14 points for Irvine Valley.

In the second round of the College of the Sequoias Tournament:

Golden West, Ohlone 73--Deana Itow scored 26 points and Julie Murdent and Kristin Brun added 18 apiece for Golden West (8-1), which advanced to play Oakland Merritt in today’s semifinals.

In the consolation bracket of the Cuesta women’s basketball Tournament:

Orange Coast 71, Rancho Santiago 49--Guard America Robledo, who had nine rebounds, scored 29 points for Orange Coast (6-3). Petra Murdoch added 13 points for the Pirates.
