Walker’s Basket Lifts Hoover to Title

A three-point play by Eric Walker in the waning seconds lifted Hoover High to a 65-64 victory over Crescenta Valley and the championship of the Hoover-Burbank tournament Saturday night.
Walker, who was voted most valuable player of the tournament, led all scorers with 27 points, 19 in the second half.
Crescenta Valley, which never trailed until the final seconds, was paced by Richard O’Neill’s 21 points.
In the third-place game, Eagle Rock defeated St. Francis 47-46, behind 31 points from Benny Hoang. Brett Christoffersen had 17 points for St. Francis.
