Teen-Ager Shot on Ventura Street

A Ventura teen-ager was in critical condition at Ventura County Medical Center after being shot on a Ventura street Thursday night, authorities said.
The 17-year-old boy, whose name was withheld by police because of his age, was undergoing surgery late Thursday after sustaining at least one gunshot wound, Ventura police said.
Police said they had several witnesses to the shooting, which occurred about 8 p.m. in the 600 block of Riverside Street near Ventura Avenue. But police had not identified a suspect as of late Thursday.
The shooting might have been gang-related, police said.
