WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — A city councilman who said homosexuals should be shot left City Hall under police escort after a shouting match with activists.
During the furor Thursday night, Councilman Al Boris said that two city parks were “monopolized by homosexuals” and that homosexuals recruit retarded men for liaisons there.
“It’s an insult to the community!” shouted Lonny McLaughlin, who led a petition drive calling for the ouster of the 13-year City Council member. “If you love this city, shut this man up.”
About 125 people showed up at the meeting.
Police escorted Boris out of the building.
