SUNSET LEAGUE BOYS’ ROUNDUP : Edison Beats Servite in Two Overtimes

Senior point guard Chad Baird hit a shot from 16 feet with seven seconds left to give Edison a 67-65 double-overtime victory over Servite in a boys’ basketball game Friday night at Servite High.
They were Baird’s only points of the game. Micah Kroeger led the Chargers with 20 points.
Edison trailed by 15 points with four minutes left in the third quarter, but outscored Servite, 17-12, in the third quarter and, 16-6, in the fourth. Ben Beard had 16 points and 11 rebounds for the Chargers, who finished in a fourth-place tie with Ocean View. The teams will meet for the league’s final playoff spot at 7 tonight at Fountain Valley High School.
Kris Valls had 20 points and teammate David Downs added 18 for Servite (17-8, 10-4), which finished third.
Huntington Beach 95, Marina 53--Tony Gonzalez scored 37 points and had 11 rebounds for Huntington Beach (17-9, 11-3), which finished second in league. Andy Nieto scored 14 points for host Marina (10-16, 4-10).
Ocean View 61, Westminster 49--Dan McDonald scored a game-high 24 points to lead Ocean View (13-13, 8-6). Teammate Kevin Johnson added 16.
