TRAVEL AND TOURISM : Airport Not Sure Where It Will Put Southwest Airlines
- Share via
Now that Southwest Airlines plans to operate 17 flights, including the two it picks up from Morris Air Service, at John Wayne Airport, where will you find its counter?
Airport officials aren’t sure yet. Spokeswoman Courtney Wiercioch said she thinks the Southwest counter will probably be in the south end of the terminal. That would be a change for Morris Air passengers, who are used to checking in for their flights at a counter in the north end that Morris subleases from American Airlines.
American will probably be glad to see Morris go. Southwest’s expected low fares may so badly undercut American on its eight daily flights to San Jose that American may pull off the route.
Southwest says it expects to begin service May 26.
