Kennedy High School in La Palma falls a bit short when it comes to restrooms, according to an article in the student newspaper, the Shamrock.
City code, the paper said, dictates that there be one lavatory for every 40 students. But the school only has one for every 59 males and one for every 45 females (and two of those are closed because of security). “There’s not enough time to go between classes considering the lines,” a female student lamented.
A junior has crusaded to have doors put back on the stalls in the boy’s restroom, saying, “How would you like it if they took away the girls’ doors? It’s just not right.” A teacher agrees: “It’s an example of sexual inequality. Males have no privacy in the bathroom.”
The crusade brought action. The principal says doors have been ordered. And there has been at least one improvement this year. “There’s more toilet paper now,” one student said.
